Integrity is doing the right thing even when it’s hard or when no one is looking. Many people only do what they are supposed to because they know that an authority figure is watching. If someone is watching them, then they do what they are supposed to only because they don’t want to get in trouble. That’s not sincere. It’s not in their heart to be honest because they are doing it out of fear of the consequences. True integrity is abiding by the rules because you know that it’s the right thing to do.
Focus of Term 2: Transformation Out-Wards
In the month of April, we reflect upon the core values we learned in term 2 (Respect, Integrity and Unity) to see if we're actually transforming/ changing. We did various activities at school to learn/adopt each core value. Now each and everyone of us need to reflect to see if we have actually adopted what we learned from the activities done over the last three months in our daily lives. That is what true transformation is; implementing what we are learning in our day to day life. Watch the videos again to remind yourself of what we had learned.
Core Value for the month of December: Transformation Inwards
Gratefulness is not just an attitude we need to put on, its an awareness that arises within when we start focusing on the positivity in life, rather negativity. The moment we shift our minds towards thanking Waheguru for all that we have rather criticizing for all the unfulfilled desires, we create a positive space within our minds that further roots positive thoughts which in return will create positive actions. Gratitude is not just about saying “thank you” rather realizing we are exactly where we need to be in life, at this moment. It’s about thanking Waheguru for all that we don’t have either, as we do not require it, at this time. Gratitude is about praying for the wellness of all living things on a greater scale. By doing so, we create a positive atmosphere that allows everyone to experience the joy of peace, even if it’s short lived.

Guru Nanak Gate Campus
In the spirit of reconciliation, Gobind Sarvar School acknowledges that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. We would also like to note that Guru Nanak Gate Campus is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River and the traditional Blackfoot name Mohkinstis, which we now call the City of Calgary. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honor and celebrate this territory. This sacred gathering place provides us with an opportunity to engage in and demonstrate leadership in reconciliation.
