Reagan Mission and Classroom Expectations

Reagan Arrows are Respectful, Responsible, On Task Winners!

Our behavior focuses on these 3 topics: being respectful, responsible, and on task. We take time in class to talk about examples and non-examples for each of these 3 expectations.

We will not be having a traditional color or clip chart this year. In fact, we are not coloring in colors anymore at all. We now have an on target behavior system. Your child will still have a behavior chart that will be sent home each day, but it will be coded differently than in previous years. On the behavior chart, if the arrow was circled, your child was on target for each of the three areas that we are focusing on. That is great arrow behavior! If a number is circle, your child was working on the following expectations: 1- Respect, 2-Responsibility, 3-Being on Task.

Please see below for a picture of the behavior chart that we will use in the classroom. Each day, your child will begin in the empty circle in the middle. This means that they are being respectful, responsible, and on task. If your child is demonstrating above and beyond behavior in a specific area, I will ask him or her to move to the middle or "target" behavior and tell them specifically what type of behavior they were going above and beyond with. If your child needs redirected, he or she will be outward in the circle to the specific character trait that he or she is having difficulty with. When a student is redirected, he or she will complete a think sheet to reflect on the behavior and work to improve on it. We will send the think sheet home for you to discuss with your child, sign, and return the next day.
