An Overture is a musical introduction to an opera, musical, or other large composition. It aims to prepare the audience for music and themes that they will experience in the future. 

Ashland City Schools and the Ashland Visual and Performing Arts program are so excited to present: 

Camp Overture. 

This short summer camp is an exciting new opportunity we are providing our new 5th Grade Band and 4th Grade Orchestra members here at Ashland City Schools, that much like the name implies, will give students their first taste of music making to come. Students will spend 3 hours a day, for 4 days in the summer learning about their new instruments that they have chosen. The new musicians will get an opportunity to refresh their knowledge of musical terms and concepts as well as get a chance to learn to assemble, maintain, and make the first sounds on their chosen instrument. Students will get to explore their new instruments before the first day of school, so they can hit the ground running once we get there. Camp Overture will also include time for students to play games, get to know their new classmates, and make friends before school even begins!
