You can find work your child is missing by going to the Canvas Parent app. The default view is grades when you open the app. Click on a course grade and you will see a list of assignments. Missing work will be marked with a red MISSING label.
Canvas will only recognize an assignment as complete if it is submitted through Canvas to that exact assignment. If an assignment is submitted via paper, email or Inbox, it will show as missing until it is manually marked as otherwise by the teacher.
As a parent, or observer, you do not have access to assignments the same way students have access. Observers are able to see assignment names, total points, grades on assignments and descriptions

Kami is a PDF annotation tool that can be integrated into Canvas or used online by going to https://www.kamiapp.com/.
Check out this Kami resource made specifically for parents: https://blog.kamiapp.com/the-parents-guide-to-kami/
Kami has to be set up by the teacher to open automatically for a PDF. Students can still use Kami if they download the PDF and log into https://www.kamiapp.com/.
Kami uses a dual-saving system, consisting of an internal Kami cloud sync and a Google Drive sync. All Kami assignments are automatically saved to a student's Google Drive>Kami folder.
