Experiences
A video shared by Prof. Shalini Upadhyay taken during interaction with Sethu students.
Student seemed very happy. It’s indeed a great step towards bridging the gap between students and faculty. I hope the initiative "Sethu" turns out to be a great success."
- Shalini Upadhyay, Faculty
“I did not expect the meet to be so relaxed—it was really enjoyable getting to chat with a professor in such a friendly way!”- A student
“Being a Mitr Faculty for AH9 Hostel has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my journey at BITS Goa. Each visit allows me to connect with students beyond academics — as a listener, mentor, and friend. The open conversations, trust, and smiles I see after resolving their small concerns truly make my day…”
--Sanjay, Mitr Faculty
“When the idea of visiting hostels was first discussed, many of us wondered if the students would be comfortable having us in their space...However, as a Mitr faculty, I’ve experienced quite the opposite ... .Students are more willing to reach out, and it’s positively impacting their academic engagement as well.”
-Saranya G Nair, Mitr faculty
“During my numerous visits to hostels and occasionally beyond their boundaries, I had the opportunity to engage with many students who candidly shared their thoughts on mental well-being, both personal and campus-wide….. Overall, my experience suggests that the majority of students now understand and acknowledge the significance of mental well-being, and a wide range of institutional initiatives are actively contributing to this much-needed awareness”
-Anonymous Mitr faculty
“Always walk the talk and listen to our students' matters. What the students want is a bit of empathy from others- someone should be there to listen to their concern. They find someone at the hour of need. We have tried our best to reach them, understand them and stand next to them. Overall, it was a good experience to be a part of this Mitr initiative”.
-Anonymous Mitr faculty
“Visiting hostels and engaging with students has never felt like a task, it’s a quiet joy, a stress buster that brings clarity and connection. These moments of informal interaction often reveal more than any formal feedback ever could. They help me understand students not just as learners, but as individuals navigating complex inner worlds..”
-Anonymous Mitr faculty
“Students are really opening up when we, faculty, are visiting as a 'Mitr' faculty. In one of my experiences, I realized that the students who hesitated to speak during or after the class even after approaching them to do so, they met me during my hostel visit and shared many things that they have confusion about like "doing project across departments", "tips to do well in particular courses", “time management (dual degree)”, “scope of job opportunities”, etc....”
-Anonymous Mitr faculty
“Listening to students' points of view regarding campus life, academic stress and sometimes their personal issues is a continuous process...When I greeted and wished them well for exams personally knocking at some of their doors, most of them verbally expressed gratitude for such a small, caring gesture…”

Feedbacks from Students about RAHAT gate keeper training
"The training, conducted by skilled professionals in their respective fields, was truly insightful. We had the opportunity to learn a great deal. We gained important knowledge and skills that we might not have had access to otherwise. I feel genuinely privileged to have been selected and given the chance to be part of this initiative."
"Looking ahead, I believe the YESS program, launching this September, will bring about a much-needed positive change on campus. It is truly the need of the hour. Students and faculty alike must support one another and work together to address some of the pressing issues we face. This program is a strong step in that direction. It will provide a safe space for those who have been struggling in silence, allowing them to share their feelings and seek help from trained peer supporters as well as mental health professionals."
"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the RAHAT team and the BITS Pilani Goa administration for making this possible. I am confident that this initiative will prove to be immensely helpful for our campus community."
