National Health Insurance
The waiting period for National Health Insurance (NHI) is 6 months. During this period, you must leave the country once, for a period not exceeding 30 days.
(Those who leave the country more than twice or whose departure exceeds 30 days will have their 6-month waiting period recalculated upon re-entry.)
Important Notes:
To comply with the second-generation NHI regulations, students without a NHI card are advised not to stay in their place of residence for more than 30 days during the winter break after the first semester. This is to avoid recalculating the waiting period due to not residing in Taiwan for the full 6 months and then leaving the country for more than one month. If the waiting period coincides with the summer break and the student leaves the country for more than one month, it may delay the application for a NHI card during the school term, affecting students' medical rights. Please take note. Thank you for your cooperation!
Instructions for Overseas Chinese Students' NHI Financial Aid Subsidy:
Please fill out the application form and submit supporting documents at the Health Promotion Center.
(Supporting documents can be issued by alumni associations, hometown associations, local high schools, or sponsoring units in your place of residence.)
