This project addresses a central challenge in psychology and neuroscience: how to rigorously capture phenomenological experience as it unfolds over time. The expected results span methodological, theoretical and applied domains.
Methodological & Theoretical Impact
The project will consolidate TET as a validated tool for studying the temporal dynamics of subjective experience, offering guidelines to ensure its rigorous application across contexts. It will provide new perspectives on how subjective experiences emerge and fluctuate over time, clarifying their relationship with behavioral and physiological markers across three domains: physical exertion, drowsiness and pain.
Applied & Institutional Impact
The findings will highlight the value of phenomenology for both basic and translational research, revealing how continuous temporal profiles provide richer and more precise information than traditional single-value reports. At the institutional level, the project will generate a tangible product for CIMCYC: a validated and openly shared tool for temporal experience tracing, expanding the center's methodological repertoire for studies on cognition, emotion and behavior. At least two peer-reviewed publications are expected.
Open Science & Dissemination
The dissemination strategy will follow a full open science approach. All main experiments will be pre-registered in the Open Science Framework (OSF), with findings submitted to high-impact open access journals and preprints uploaded to PsyArXiv. All materials, interview protocols, data and analytical pipelines will be made available in OSF and the University of Granada repository.
Reaching Multiple Audiences
Results will be presented at national and international conferences, including SEPEX, SEPNECA and neuroscience and methodology-focused meetings, alongside internal dissemination at CIMCYC's annual meeting. For professional audiences, the applied potential of TET will be translated into reports, infographics and workshops in collaboration with the Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos and the Asociación Española de Metodología de las Ciencias del Comportamiento (AEMCCO). Public outreach will include the CIMCYC blog, press releases via Canal UGR and social media posts.
