According to recent studies, the first five years of a teacher’s career may be a time of particular vulnerability, with estimates of 40-50% of early career teachers in many countries leaving the profession during that time.
Studies exploring why teachers leave have pointed to teacher stress and burnout and inadequate pre-service preparation for the reality of teachers’ work.
It is reported that 33% of Norwegian teachers who started to teach in municipalities and counties (school owners) in 2006 had left the profession by 2011. Moreover, 40% of graduating teachers from Norwegian postgraduate teacher education programmes either did not commence teaching or left within 18 months.
With this type of scientific event, the aim is to discuss and empower the resilience in actual and future teachers. To that end, the European Resuperes project KA220-HED (Erasmus+) will be presented. The participants will also have the possibility to learn from other resilience projects and their results.
The said congress will have a day dedicated to the dissemination of the Project Results RESUPERES, Manual and Website, interactive platform and toolkit through a series of conferences and theoretical-practical activities after the pilot study activity has been developed.
You can learn more about the project here and follow the last news at the HVL webside.
