Opportunities
Open positions
You can now apply to a PhD position funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (European Commision) in the context of the Doctoral Network SigSynCell. The deadline for applications is the 2/6/2024.
SigSynCell brings together a dozen European academic partners, in addition to private companies with one common goal: to develop synthetic cells as systems having the key characteristic function of living systems: its capacity to interact with its environment.
In particular, the PhD student at the University of Granada will be working in the project "DC07: Remote actuation of synthetic cells by external force fields". Specifically, we aim to design and construct bioinspired micro-compartments (i.e., synthetic cell-like micro-ensembles) capable of harvesting energy from external sources (i.e., force fields) to accomplish higher-orderfunctions. To achieve this, magnetic nanoparticles incorporated within the microcompartment architecture will allow energy transduction from electromagnetic fields to power behaviour such as active propulsion, compartment interaction and collective dynamics. Therefore, the response to the field will expand across lengthscales (i.e., reaching the external environment or neighbouring microcapsules).
For more details about the project, please refer to the website of the consortium.
