Webinars internacionales

Seminarios, Conferencias y cursos virtuales (Webinars) internacionales.

Single-Molecule Proteomics using Protein Identification by Short-epitope Mapping

Short-epitope Mapping (PrISM). PrISM is a single-molecule analysis method where intact proteins are immobilized, iteratively probed with multi-affinity probes, and machine learning is applied to convert binding patterns to protein identification and quantification. Date:  January 25, 2023 Time: 10:00am (PST),  1:00pm (EST), 7:00pm (CET).

Bioluminescent Analyte Detection with Lumit Immunoassays

In the first part of this series, we will introduce Lumit™  technology, a novel bioluminescent immunoassay platform, and how the technology can be applied to a variety of assay formats. Dr. Dan Lazar from Promega will describe how bioluminescence makes immunoassays faster and easier, and how you can apply this technology to your research needs.

Purifying miRNA from Plasma, Serum and Exosomes

MicroRNAs are one of the smallest RNA species but despite their small size they can have a big impact; miRNA can potentially contribute to human diseases like cancer. As research turns to minimally invasive liquid biopsy samples for information on health, isolating miRNA becomes increasingly important. This webinar will give background information on miRNAs and exosomes and discuss an automated chemistry for purification of miRNA from plasma, serum and exosomes.

Biochemistry Focus webinar series – CRISPR gene editing in the Xenopus model system

CRispR is a powerful and widely used tool. However, there are subtle variations in approaches depending on the target organism and purpose. In this webinar, we will hear from Dr Annie Godwin from the University of Portsmouth, who will discuss the range of approaches used by the European Xenopus Resource Centre to create transgenic frog lines. The European Xenopus Resource Centre (EXRC) is situated in Portsmouth, United Kingdom and provides tools and services to support researchers using Xenopus models. Funded by the Welcome Trust, NERC and BBSRC, the EXRC depends on researchers to obtain and deposit Xenopus transgenic and mutant lines, Xenopus in-situ hybridization clones, Xenopus specific antibodies and other resources with the centre

Biochemistry Focus webinar series – Theoretical and Practical aspects of CRISPR genome editing in Zebrafish

Zebrafish is a widely used model organism spanning the fields of developmental biology, epigenetics, transcription and more. The advent of CRISPR technology for making precise modifications to the genome has surpassed siRNA and talon technologies in many applications. Much work and outreach has focussed on genome editing in mammalian systems. Vertebrate model systems such as Zebrafish and Xenopus are used by multiple vibrant research communities who have also adopted CRISPR technology for their own purposes. This webinar will fill an educational niche by focussing on practical aspects of CRISPR modification in Zebrafish with viewers coming away with practical knowledge of the steps required to make a successful CRISPR modified Zebrafish line.

Biochemistry Focus webinar series – Transitioning between academia and industry and vice versa

Hosted during National Careers Week, this session will bring together 4 speakers who have transitioned between academia and industry (and vice versa!) during their careers. Each speaker will discuss their individual career paths and motivations, as well as provide helpful tips and advice on the skills needed during the transitioning process.

Biochemistry Focus webinar series – Intellectual Property

Academics often don’t realise that the way their research will impact the world is through commercialisation and exploitation – and this in turn relies heavily on intellectual property, including having a portfolio which is appealing to investors and collaborators. Having enough knowledge of how IP works and of the key issues to spot “red flags”, whilst still at the lab bench or in the early stages of founding a company, is invaluable and can help avoid making irreparable mistakes. In this session, Dr Sara Holland and Dave Holt will equip attendees with foundational information regarding intellectual property (with a focus on patents) in the context of the research scientist and scientist founder – what it is, how to get it, and what to do with it once you have it - and be available to answer any questions. Interaction encouraged!
