Students will be participating in an array of community-based learning experiences on a weekly basis. These outing are designed to broaden daily living skill, life skills, and educational experiences beyond the classroom. Students will learn to navigate public spaces in the community and appropriately interact with peers and fellow community members. They will practice shopping, purchasing, following directions, monitoring and adjusting their behavior and 'indoor voices", teamwork skills, and social skills. Our teachers and support staff will be providing close supervision to ensure safety protocols are always followed. Our nursing department will arrange for health related services and supervision while on outings to meet the needs of our students when they leave the building. Our transportation department will provide equipment so that our students can be transported safely and have wonderful experiences. Some of our outings have been planned already and some decisions regarding outings need to be adjusted as teachers and students become aware of preferences and needs.
