About the Festival

The UM Treble Choir Festival was conceptualized in 2019 as part of the UM Women's Glee performance of Andrea Ramsey's Suffrage Cantata, which, due to the pandemic, was performed in April 2022.  This choral festival opportunity was uniquely designed for treble singers. To provide an experience unlike other choral festivals, the Treble Choir Festival includes an opportunity for advanced middle school, high school, community college, university, and adult singers to perform together and learn from each other: a multi-generational choral experience. We are thrilled that Dr. Jennifer Sengin from the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) will join us to conduct the festival choir this year. She brings an infectious energy and excitement for choral music and empowering treble singers.

The festival will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. The cost for participants is $40. Participants will receive a t-shirt, lunch, and music for the performance. Hotel accommodations (if needed) and dinner will be the responsibility of the participants/schools. Choral organizations are asked to bring up to 16 singers, preferably in balanced quartets (SSAA). The tentative schedule includes rehearsal time and time to facilitate learning and activities crafted to engage our festival participants on topics related to empowering students in choir, society, and more!

I hope you will continue to visit this website for updated information as you consider this opportunity for you and your choristers. I am happy to answer any questions or address any concerns. My email is ehearn@olemiss.edu.

I appreciate your consideration, and best wishes for a productive and fulfilling year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Hearn
