Please don't feel you have to spend a lot of money on your costume. Look in your closet, dig through your dresser and see what you can find. Be creative!

Props can also make your presentation exciting. Many students have brought in flags, dolls, lanterns etc. They give you an opportunity to share items that are important to your character. My Twitter account has additional Living Museum ideas from the past.

*NO TOY GUNS OR SWORDS

Now that you have written your research report, it is time to share all that you have learned. For this activity, each of you will become an “exhibit” on a historical figure. You will then present what you know as people come to “view” the exhibit. That means that your research will serve yet another purpose!

For your exhibit, you will need to think about some creative ways to represent your historical figure. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be super complicated or elaborate to be representative, but it does need to be accurate. For your exhibit you need:

A simple costume that would serve as a representation of your figure (that means no jeans!)

A symbolic item that could be displayed with your figure that further demonstrates their historical importance

A short written descriptor that would be posted by your exhibit about the figure and the item

A short speech that could be listened to about the importance of this person

Set up a space in you home that will become a museum display. We will invite younger students to come and experience our Virtual Historical Exhibits online. Be prepared to share all that you know about your historical figure!

Date of museum opening: May 11, 2020
