LEAP 7

Our Current Unit:

Margaret Wheatley asserts that "It's impossible for ay two people to ever see things exactly the same." Whatever our position is relative to a topic, we may see things differently than another person. During this unit, we'll consider how seeing through others' eyes can change our understanding and approach to the world and all of its complexities. Anchored in Karen Hesse's Witness, this piece is sure to help students develop empathy and a more mature understanding of the complexities of the world around them.

The Year in LEAP7: "below the surface"

There’s always more. In a fast-paced world rich with information and packed with hectic schedules, it’s easy for our lives to a mile wide and an inch deep. When we are satisfied with the surface, we miss out on seeing the world for the beautifully complex place that it is. In 7th grade, we want to challenge our students to think deeply to see that things are not always the way they appear on the surface. There’s always more to see when you take time to look.
