School Introduction

😀Our school had a humble beginning as a single classroom attached to the Ruei-Li National School. Called “Ruei-Li National School Ruei-Feng Branch Class”, it opened on Sept.1, 1953. The next year saw the classroom promoted to the Branch School of Ruei-Li National School, with three classes, on Sept. 1, 1955.On Oct. 18, 1958, the school was officially approved to function as an independent national school named “Ruei-Feng National School”, with six classes. With the implementaion of the compulsory national education program in August, 1968, the name of our school was changed to “Meishan Township, Chiayi County, Ruei-Feng Primary School “, as the school is known today.

😀The school is situated in the northeast of Meishan Township. Initially called “Sheng Mao Shu” (meaning “hairy tree”), Ruei-feng Village was renowned for its towering trees and lush woods. The plant “Unnea” thrived on the tree trunks,, and from a distance, they resembled hairs sprouting from the trees, which led to the village’s name. Perched above the peaks of Haishu Mountain, the village basks in sunlight that seems to cast rays of fortune, aptly earning it the name “Ruei-feng” (which translates to “fortune peak”). The elevation of Ruei-feng Village spans from 450 meters to 1,314 meters above sea level, averaging around 1,000 meters. With an average annual temperature of approximately 20°C, the village enjoys mild winters and temperate summers

😀The primary crop grown there is Alishan high mountain tea, renowned for its exceptional quality, consistently winning top honors in major tea contests each year. It comes as no surprise that this region is widely regarded as the "birthplace of champion tea." When villagers encounter visitors, they warmly invite them to enjoy tea. Consequently, our school provides tea art courses to educate students on tea picking, brewing techniques, and tea craftsmanship, aiming to cultivate students into skilled tea artisans.

A Description of Our School District
😀The Village of Ruei-Feng, the second largest village in Meishan Township, is located in the mountains northeast of Chiayi. Thanks to its mid-range altitude, Ruei-Feng village enjoys a pleasantly habitable climate with mists and fogs reminiscent of the surrounding area. Daily displays of sunrise and sunset, amid seas of clouds and veils of mountain mist, give the village a mythical air that accentuates the mystery of nature. The area's abundant natural beauty results in the production of high-quality agricultural products. While tea plantations dominate the landscape, virgin forests of conifers, hardwood, and bamboo thrive in lands set aside for conservation or forestry use. The slopes of the surrounding hills boast a wonderful diversity of fauna and flora. Ruei-Feng is also currently a rehabilitation base for the "russet sparrow",a first-grade protected species.
