Welcome Back!
Welcome back to another school year! The first day of school for students will be September 6, 2022. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. with our doors opening at 7:40 a.m. with the arrival of our first bus.
Due to current COVID protocols, the school continues to remain closed to the public. If you have questions regarding the upcoming 2021-22 school year, please contact the Main Office at 902-541-8220 or via email at wnes@ssrce.ca
Masks
Dear school community,
The Premier and Dr. Strang announced a number of new restrictions throughout the province. As part of that announcement, masking in our schools will extend to all students (pre-primary to Grade 12) with full implementation by Monday, April 26, 2021.
While we recognize this is a change for some students, we also know in-school learning is what’s best for our children and believe this additional measure is appropriate given the current rise in cases.
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education continues to follow a layered approach to COVID-19, as outlined by Public Health. This includes, limiting outside visitors, increased handwashing, increased cleaning, social distancing, outdoor learning, and the use of masks. The ongoing commitment from students, their families, and staff to adhere to these Public Health guidelines has allowed us to have a very successful school year to date and we thank everyone for their ongoing cooperation.

Parent Teacher
Parent Teacher is scheduled for Thursday, April 8th. Due to COVID restrictions, interviews can no longer be in person but instead will be either virtually using Google Meet or by phone and must be booked in advance. Appointments will have a ten minute time limit to give teachers the opportunity to make contact with as many parents as possible during the allotted time frame.
If you would like to book a 10 minute appointment slot to speak with your child’s teacher, please contact the school by email at wnes@ssrce.ca or phone 902-541-8220. You will book an appointment time, indicate whether you wish to use Google Meet (and provide the email to use) or phone (and provide the phone number you wish to use for the call at the designated time). Appointments will take place between 12:30 and 2:50 p.m. and again in the evening from 6:00 to 7:50 p.m.
Spring Break
Spring Break will be March 15 to 19, 2021. Students will return to school on Monday, March 22nd.
Registration for September 2021
Early registration for New Primary and Pre-Primary students will be held this week. Attached please find an information sheet from the SSRCE containing registration information, as well as a registration form.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, registrations will be done electronically.

We would ask that you please return the completed registration form as soon as possible as we gather numbers for classes for September 2021.

No School for Students
A reminder there will be no school for students on Monday, November 23, 2020. It is a Marking Day for staff.
Parent Teacher
Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29th while teachers participate in Parent Teacher Interviews. It will look a little different this year. Student Supply Fee UPDATE
Student Supply Fee UPDATE - No FEE!
Great news! Our generous WNES School Advisory Council has agreed to absorb the cost of the Student School Supply Fee for this school year.
Due to this unprecedented time and the impact COVID has had on our community and families both emotionally and economically, this is one thing they thought could be taken off your plate. We realize this does not cover the Grade 6's because they purchase their own supplies each year, but we are sure we can compensate the grade 6's by covering a cost the class may incur, with a purchase this school year that will support/advance their learning.

Report Cards
Term 3 Report Cards will be available electronically on Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Early Registration
Early Primary Registration Week and Registration for our Pre-Primary Program will both be held January 13-17, 2020.
PRIMARY CHILDREN turning five years of age on or before December 31, 2020, are eligible to begin Primary in September 2020.
PRE-PRIMARY CHILDREN turning four years of age on or before December 31, 2020, are eligible to begin pre-primary in September 2020.
To register a child for either of the above programs, parents will be required to complete a registration form, provide identification for their child with the child's date of birth (i.e. birth certificate), health card number and expiry date, and proof of residence (i.e. driver's license, utility bill).

Welcome to the start of a new school year! The first day of school for students will be Thursday, September 5th, 2019.
Last Day of School
The last day of school will be Friday, June 28th. There is no school for students on Thursday, June 27th as this is a Marking Day for Staff. Friday, June 28th students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. Have a safe and happy Summer!
Pre-Primary Program
We are happy to once again be having the Pre-Primary program at WNES for next year. Registration week for this program will be February 19 to 22, 2019. Children in the West Northfield catchment area, turning four, on or before December 31st of 2019 are eligible to attend this great program starting in September. Simply contact the school for a registration form as soon as possible so we are able to confirm numbers.
