Judging

Interested in being a judge?

Dear Sir / Madame

Great News! It is the time of year on the South Shore when thousands of our students will be exploring, creating, constructing and demonstrating their science knowledge. They will be feeding their curiosity and developing the skills which are so important to development of young minds. We must encourage our students in their interest and involvement in the pursuit of excellence in science and technology.

We are exceedingly proud of our students’ endeavours. Since 1999 our students have achieved national recognition in multiple scientific disciplines as Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Renewable Resources, Health Sciences, Engineering, and Environmental Innovation and winning close to $100,000 in cash and awards. Our National Science Fair students have achieved national recognition receiving scholarships, prizes and awards as well as multiple medals. This is an outstanding result at this level of completion. Our total results since 2005 in awards, scholarships and prizes now reaches $70,000.00. It is our goal to continue this level of success for our students participating in future science fairs.

We are looking for volunteer judges for the Regional Science Fair. This years event will take place at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (located in Bridgewater) Thursday March 28, 2024. There will be a brief judge’s orientation before we start. Judging will start at 9:30 am and finish by 2 pm. We are mindful of your busy schedules and appreciate you taking time from your busy day and work schedules. The Awards Ceremony will take place following the judging and public viewing.

Available to all judges is an optional viewing on Wednesday March 27th from 6:30-8:00pm without students present. This is not mandatory but a chance view projects prior to official judging on Wednesday. If you have a particular keen interest in science fair and would like to participate in our "Best In Fair" Judges Panel on Thursday please let us know when you register.

If you have an interest in science and technology, we would enjoy having you help judge at this event. To register as a judge please fill out the below google form, and contact Chad Frittenburg  at the following email, frittenc@gnspes.ca, to confirm your interest. You can also review the rubric used at this year's fair below.
