Sherwood Park Education Centre, is a technology-enhanced middle school, that opened in January, 1997. We are located in Sydney, Cape Breton, NS, Canada with a student population of 380 and a staff of 45 (including Teaching Assistants). We are very pleased to provide a technology solution to our students. Our school has approximately 200+ workstations.

Mission Statement

Sherwood Park Education Centre embraces a child centered learning environment with a focus on interdisciplinary teams integrating a large number of technologies and teaching/learning tools that lead to measurable outcomes.

Vision Statement

Sherwood Park Education Centre strives to develop, in a safe caring and creative atmosphere, and through a process of shared decision making, and environment in which each student is motivated to succeed in her/his studies; as well as in extra and co-curricular activities according to his or her potential. Our school community endeavours to develop in all our students the self-discipline to act responsibly, a genuine caring attitude toward self and others, and a life-long love of learning.

School clothing is now on sale and all items are on display in the cupboard in the main lobby. All orders must be returned to Mr. Gallaway or Ms. Gillard on or before March 1.

Reminder to students that Monday will be the last day for the book fair. Mrs. Mouland would like to thank everyone for participating.

Laurie Carroll’s basketball team will have a practice tomorrow from 1-3.

A reminder to grade 8 social studies students that field permission slips are now due any questions please see Mrs. Lalonde or Ms. Gillis

There will be an art club meeting today after school.

SPEC went to a perfect 3 and 0 in the Middle School Hockey League with a 12-0 win over WPM.
