Provincial Attestation Letter: International Students
Please be informed of an important change to the immigration process for international students currently studying in secondary schools in Canada who have received an offer of admission for post-secondary education. This process also applies to students in a college or CEGEP who change post-secondary institutions.
Effective immediately, students will need to include a provincial attestation letter (PAL) when applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for a study permit. A provincial attestation letter is an official document issued by the government of a Canadian province to confirm that an international student has been accepted for admission to a post-secondary institution in that province.
Only students who have accepted their offer of admission and paid the deposit are eligible for a PAL. We encourage you to ensure this process is followed while adhering to all applicable deadlines.
Dr Anthony Johnstone Memorial Entrance Scholarship
I am writing today to inform you about the Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Memorial Entrance Scholarship, a $6,000.00 scholarship available to Nova Scotia students entering their first year of university. The Province established the scholarship in 1991 to honour the life and work of the late Tony Johnstone, a long-time educator and human rights advocate who devoted his life to promoting multicultural understanding and social equality.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must live in Nova Scotia, be graduating from high school and beginning an undergraduate degree program at a Maritime university in the fall. The applicant must also have demonstrated an interest in multiculturalism and human rights.
All forms and the scholarship poster are found here: https://novascotia.ca/lae/scholarships/. We would appreciate it if you could print and display the poster in order to bring the scholarship to the attention of your graduating students, and distribute forms to those who request them. All forms are to be postmarked no later than March 31, 2025 in order for the applicant to be considered for the scholarship.

Thanks,
Mr. Trenholm
Good morning!
My name is Jahsara, and I am the Youth Program Coordinator for Business is Jammin’ (BIJ). BIJ is a charitable youth initiative that focuses on motivating Black and racially visible youth in Nova Scotia through entrepreneurship.
BIJ shapes youth into vibrant members of the business community. We work with young people through a range of educational, social, mentorship, and financial support programs to build business acumen and leadership skills.
BIJ would love to bring its Role Models on the Road program to your school this year! This program invites young, Black entrepreneurs and career professionals to visit junior high and high schools across the province to engage with students. Our speakers inspire students by sharing their personal experiences in overcoming adversity, pursuing education, taking on leadership roles, and more.
Our goal in running this program is to provide an interactive platform for students to learn about entrepreneurship as a career choice, and to discover other interesting new career options. Overall, our speakers encourage the younger generation to go out and be the best they can possibly be.
We would like to set up a panel discussion that will include no more than four career professionals. We are asking your school to dedicate 60-90 minutes of time to this session, and to ensure approximately 50 students or less are in attendance.
Please respond to this email by confirming if this date and time works for you:
