REading
Reader's Workshop is a time of day when students are introduced to a reading concept through a mini-lesson and then work independently or with the teacher to practice the skill with poems and books.
Students are working on learning alphabet letters, their sounds and the letter formation (how to print the letter) through chants and actions. We are also exploring books and learning about print.

Writing
Students participate in a daily Writer's Workshop time in the classroom. This is a time of day where students are introduced to a writing concept through a mini-lesson and then work independently or with the teacher to finish their piece of writing at their own pace.
Students prepare for writing by talking and drawing a picture and practice telling their story instead naming objects in their pictures. We work towards labelling our stories, starting with ourselves and then objects. As our learning continues we begin to experiment with recording words around the room and beginning sounds of words to record our stories.
