In the business world, an “elevator pitch” is a quick, passionately delivered description of a product that an inventor/business owner has created. You never know when you’ll be standing in line or sharing an elevator ride with a rich and powerful investor. To make the most of such an opportunity, an inventor must have an elevator pitch ready to roll at a moment’s notice.
You will “pitch” your Passion Project idea to the class with a 90-second elevator pitch/mini-presentation.
Your pitch MUST include:
Your name
What you want to create during your Passion Project
Why you chose this project (tell a little story, give history, a definition, etc.)
What materials/resources you’ll need
What are your first three steps to getting the project started
What obstacles you are anticipating
Why this project is worthy of your attention for the next 8 weeks
Graciously thank the audience for their time/consideration of your idea
Be organized with your thoughts and ready to speak enthusiastically about your Passion Project proposal. Be prepared to answer questions about your project. If your peers have any concerns, they are going to voice their opinions and thoughts. You need to be able to defend yourself in order for your Passion Project to receive the green light.
Hello, my name is Mme Gaudet and I am here to tell you about my Passion Project idea for 2024. Over the past three years, I have been studying to become a school counsellor, and in May I will graduate from Acadia University. At some point in the future, I plan to become a school counsellor, and I want to set myself up for success in that role. Therefore, my plan for my passion project is to create a website of resources, with things for me as well as for students, teachers, and parents. I will need to go through all of my class notes, and do some research to find appropriate content for various grade levels and counselling needs. To start, I will create the skeleton of my website, organizing the digital space in a way that feels user-friendly. Then I will begin looking for appropriate resources, as well as creating content of my own. In the end, I hope to have a website that I can share with teachers, parents and students that is helpful and easy to navigate. One of the obstacles that I foresee is finding time to create my website while still teaching every day, without sacrificing all of my free time (balance is very important to me). My plan is to set aside a bit of time after school at least once or twice a week to work on this project. This project is worthy of my time because it will allow me to create something that I will actually use in the future, and form the basis of a strong counselling program. Thank you so much for your time and consideration, I hope that you find my project idea worthy of approval.
