Lockview High School Course Correction Procedures
Course changes will only occur twice within the school year, once in the first week of September and again in January for second semester. Course changes are only considered in the following circumstances:

2. A student does not have a pre-requisite for a course in their schedule OR the course and its pre-requisite are scheduled in reverse order
3. A course is scheduled for which a credit has been previously granted
4. A failing grade was obtained in a required course and it needs to be repeated
5. A student was unsuccessful in a course and wants to change academic levels ie Math 11 to Math at Work 11
6. A grade 11 or 12 student who is carrying more than the required course load (8 for Gr 11 or 7/8 for grade 12) would like to drop the extra course.
7. A course change request is also considered for the following prioritized reasons:
-a potential graduate lacks a required course to complete graduation requirements
-a student requires a course for their identifies post-secondary path
Course Selection 2025-2026
Course selection for the 2025-2026 school year begins in February. Each student in Grade 9, 10 and 11 has access to an electronic copy of the course selection booklet. It is posted on our Student Services website. It is also posted in the Google Classroom designated for your student's grade level.* This contains valuable information about the credits needed for graduation, planning your course selection, course descriptions, and more.
Information sessions will be held during class time for all students in the coming weeks. The student portal for course selection will open on February 3 and will close on February 25. Students must select their courses for next year through their Student Power School account, under Class Registration. Students will need their username and password for their Power School account.** In the months of March and April, counsellors will meet individually with students to discuss their selections and make changes, if necessary.
Grade 9 students select 8 credits with 3 alternatives.
Grade 10 students select 7 credits with 3 alternatives.
Grade 11 students select 6 credits with 3 alternatives.
Grade 10 and 11 students who wish to take additional courses (an 8th course for Gr 10s and a 7th or 8th course for Gr 11s) should mention this to their School Counsellor when individual student conferences are held in March and early April.
Parent/Guardian Information Sessions will be held in February.
Grade 9 Parent Information Session is on February 3th at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria (if school is cancelled, it will be held on February 5th)
Grade 10 and 11 Parent Information Session is on February 10th at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria (if school is cancelled, it will be held on February 12th)
A presentation for grade eight students coming to LHS in September will be held in May. Please see the school website for dates and times.
*If your student still has not signed on to the Google classroom they can email tellsworth@hrce.ca for support.
** If students are unaware of these two pieces of information, they must sign up in Student Services to have their Power School account reset.
If your student has any questions, please ask them to stop by the Student Services office on their break time or on their lunch hour and we would be more than happy to answer any questions they may have.
