Please write in your child’s communication book whenever there is a change in their end of day routine. This ensures that we are able to get your child in the correct place afterschool. It there is an expected change to your child's schedule throughout the day, call the school office prior to 2:00 pm so we can ensure that your child gets the note prior to dismissal.
Please dress your child in layers so they can be comfortable as they are going outside as much as possible. Please also label your child’s clothing as we are getting a collection at Lost & Found. We have now truly entered winter. With colder weather comes a reminder to dress your child(ren) in layers. Students will be going outside in weather up to –20ºC wind chill! Hats, mitts, snow pants, warm jackets, and boots are a must! Extra mitts and gloves would be beneficial as it is often hard to dry wet mittens between recess and lunch. Labelling your child’s items is also a great idea as replacing lost clothing can become quite costly.
A reminder about student drop off in the mornings… Students can be dropped off at 8:30. School starts at 8:50 am. Please ensure that your child is on time and ready for learning.
Let your child know that you value good attendance.
Try to arrange appointments (such as doctor, dentist, etc.) after school hours.
Communicate regularly with your child’s teacher—even when there is nothing wrong!
If your child often complains of stomach pains with no medical rea-son, they could possibly be stress related.
Make sure your child arrives to school on time.
Chronic lateness leads to students becoming disconnected from learning in class and it causes them to miss out on very important literacy development skills.
Students must be in their classrooms at 8:50am for O’Canada & Announcements. Their instructional day begins at 8:55am sharp.
If your child spends part of the week with another caregiver, then share this attendance information with that person.
Ensure your child gets adequate sleep—follow a regular bedtime routine.
If attendance does become a problem, contact us early.
Your child can copy notes and make up assignments, but they can never get back what is most important: discussions, questions, and the thinking that makes learning come alive!
Remember, every day counts!
At the beginning of the new school year, our teachers ask families to contribute $40.00 per child for school supplies. This will cover all supplies needed for the school year, except for the occasional box of Kleenex. This cost will also cover any class celebrations (for example: ice cream treats).
Families need to provide:
