The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education, developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. Our programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

The IB program comes with many benefits, such as learning how to be an independent student, university credits after graduation, a world wide recognized high school diploma and IB scholarships.
Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High School offers two different IB programs, the Certificate and Diploma program. A Certificate student only takes some IB courses (see more in the about section) and will graduate with a Nova Scotia Diploma and an IB Certificate. They aren't eligible for university credits, however they are still eligible for scholarships. A Diploma student will take the 3 core subjects alongside 6 courses chosen from the six groups. They are eligible for university credits, scholarships, and an IB Diploma.
The program can be challenging at times, but it teaches students how to deal with difficulties and sets them up for success later in life, the IB teaches kids how to become well-rounded students.
There are no prerequisites in order to do the Certificate program or the Diploma program.
