The Nova Scotia Assessment: Literacy and Mathematics in Grade 3 and Mathématiques in Grade 3 is administered over 4-days during the weeks of May 12th - May 27th, 2025.
Provincial assessments provide a snapshot of student performance in key areas including mathematics. They support learning by providing feedback to students, teachers and parents about student learning. Provincial assessments can also provide system-wide information that assists in identifying educational trends and making decisions about resources and support.
French immersion students write only the mathématiques component of this assessment because they only begin formal English language arts instruction at the beginning of grade 3.
**New in 2024-25** French Immersion classes will no longer receive an English language version of the Mathematics assessment for reference. More information below.
A reminder that the Mathematics 3 Assessment only includes outcomes covered to up to this point in the school. Unit 10 Fractions of a Whole, Outcome is included and will be assessed.
Questions specific to Unit 11 (multiplication and division) and Unit 12 in the Pacing Guides for grade 3 will not be reflected in the M3 Assessment.
