The focus is not on the answer, but on the student being able to communicate his/her reasoning/justification of their choice.
Same or Different? - Same or Different? is a routine that provides students opportunities to construct arguments when comparing objects, such as numbers or shapes.
Would You Rather Math - Each prompt describes two options. Students are asked to choose one of those options and justify their choice with mathematics.
Teachers of grade 9 students are responsible for assessing student learning in part by having students participate in a year end cumulative assessment opportunity. In Mathematics, this will be in the form of a written examination during the same timeframe as senior high school exams.
