HRCE Rubrics for PR01, PR02 - These rubrics can be used for a variety of purposes such as a resource to create learning goals, a tool for student self assessment and on-going, formative assessment, creating report card comments, summative assessment of achievement, and/or as a support in giving descriptive feedback to students.
Online math tools: Grids, dot grids, expression mats, algebra tiles, base 10 blocks, number lines,

Additional Resources and Activities for PR01 (linear relations):
Worksheet - Whose Line is it Anyway?
Pixel Art Self Checking Google Sheet Activity (8PR01) in English and French. For more information about pixel art, watch this video
A Growing Pattern Desmos Activity - available in English and French: Introducing multiple representations of linear relationships in a table, graph, and equation. This activty is also linked in the Grade 8 Desmos Collection.
Additional Resources and Activities for PR02 (solving linear equations):
Daedaulus and Icarus - Ask students to choose any positive integer n. If n is even, divide it by 2 to get n / 2. If n is odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1 to obtain 3n + 1. Repeat this process. Can they find a number that doesn't eventually reach 1? If they can, they have disproved the Collatz Conjecture, an open problem in mathematics. The math pickle website puts this in a context of Daedaulus trying to fly to escape King Minos.
Using alge-tiles to solve equations worksheet: English and French
Solving Equations Circuit Training Worksheet #2 in English and French
Equations Cross Number Puzzle - Interactive and worksheet

Phet - Interactive Simulations. The following are links to an online interactive tool for practicing solving equations with one variable: When students open the link, they can click on “Solve it” (on “Résoud la!” for the French link) and then choose their level. Teachers can also use this link by sharing the screen on a Google meet to show steps. English and French
Solving Equations Crossword - This self-checking worksheet ask students to solve equations and enter the numerical answers into a crossword puzzle.
Solving Equations Menu English, French - This is an assessment that can be done virtually. In this set of Google Slides, students select from a menu of options to respond to. Each student answers the questions they have picked and delete any unused slides and pass it in within the Google Classroom.

Linear Equations Math Market English, French - Students work in small groups to complete review questions. Student buy the questions from the market and sell back correctly worked solutions for a profit. This activity is self-differentiated as students choose which level of question they'd like to attempt. Student recording sheet.
