This resource was created through the UpLift Partnership, a school-community-university partnership that supported HPS through Youth Engagement from 2019-2024 in Nova Scotia. This catalogue is based on the projects that were decided on by students and supported by Youth Engagement Coordinators in 163 schools in Nova Scotia during that period. Funding for this work was provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada with matching funds from private donors through a fundraising consortium led by Dalhousie Advancement.
This is a robust catalogue of project ideas identified by students themselves, and many already undertaken in Nova Scotia. In most cases, students went through a process of assessing their school environments then generated ideas as a group to help address what they discovered in their school assessment. This website includes fun descriptions and major considerations for taking on each project that was chosen. We hope this resource will help to show the many ways that student voice has enhanced school communities, and will inspire you to take on a project of your own. While the UpLift grant program has come to a close, there are often other funding avenues available to schools, and many initiatives that can be taken on with little to no cost.
