Update: Access during the Lockdown
Students and staff can still access some articles from the provincial or metro edition of the Chronicle Herald or any of the other saltwire newspapers at home through the https://saltwire.pressreader.com/ website.
Click on the Chronicle Herald or the newspaper you would like to read. If you click on the Chronicle Herald, it will default to the metro version. To switch from the metro to provincial edition, change the word provincial or metro in the url:

Alternatively, you can click on the menu icon at the top left of the screen, click on all the publications and scroll down to the two different editions of the Chronicle Herald.
Click on the text view icon which looks like two rows of horizontal lines at the bottom left of the screen (marked in red in the photo) to see new articles appear in an easy-to-read horizontal stream. You can click on the pages at the bottom of the screen or swipe right or left to see the articles. (Note that some articles may be locked but you will still be able to access more than the 3 premium content articles allotted to non-subscribers if you logged directly into www.saltwire.com/Halifax.)
You can click on the date at the top of the screen to see previous days’ articles.
You can also still click on the waffle menu in the right top corner of an article to have it read to you (Listen) or to copy or print the article.
Alternatively, you can go to saltwire.com/Halifax and read some free articles in the Chronicle Herald. Many of the articles relating to public safety or that are widely available news stories are free. You can only read three premium content articles before subscribing. The premium content articles have a small lock and key icon under its headline. At the top of the screen, you can click on all news or local, provincial, Canadian or World news.
You can read 3 articles from the Globe and Mail per month as an anonymous reader or 6 articles per month as a registered user. You can use your gnspes account to be a registered user.
You can read 10 articles in the National Post per month before paying for an online subscription. Click on the link above.
You can read all articles of La Presse (in French) for free by registering with your gnspes log in.
