The Den Youth Centre is a safe and inclusive space for youth located in the lower level of the Acadia Centre at 636 Sackville Drive (Library Bldg). If you live and hang out in Sackville, Beaver Bank, Lucasville, Fall River, Bedford, and surrounding areas and are between 13-18, drop in on your own or bring some friends along.
Registration for summer programing through HRM Recreation is coming up quickly at the end of April, and our SchoolsPlus team wanted to share some information with you about HRM’s Affordable Access Program for low-income families.
What is the Affordable Access Program?
This program provides either partial or full financial coverage for recreation programs for low-income children and youth. There are two ways to apply:
1. You can apply yourself! You will need a HRM Recreation account, your 2021 CRA Notice of Assessment, and current proof that you are receiving the Canada Child Tax Benefit. The application can be found linked here and can be submitted directly to affordableaccess@halifax.com.
2. You can contact your SchoolsPlus Assistant Lead Sherry Battiste by phone or text at 902 471 2445 or by email at sherry.battiste@hrce.ca, if you need help completing the application, creating an HRM Rec account, or if you do not have your CRA Notice of Assessment or proof of Child Tax Benefit. Our SchoolsPlus team can help you to complete and submit your application by asking you a few simple questions.
Students applying to a Nova Scotia University or NSCC no longer need to request their printed high school transcript. When you apply online and give them your student number, they will automatically be able to access your high school in progress transcript and your final transcript upon graduation.
Current students applying outside of Nova Scotia will still need to sign up in guidance for a paper copy of their transcript. Transcripts are printed Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year.
