Bus Loop and Student Drop Off and Pick Up
Reminder of the drop-off routine in the AM: School opens at 8:05 AM. Please do not drop your children off before this time as supervision is not available.
Student Drop Off
If you drive your students to school, please enter the driveway that is behind the school.
Proceed to the drop off area and have your child(ren) exit as quickly as possible using the right hand side of the car onto the sidewalk.
**Do not park your car in this drop-off loop. It is meant for a quick drop-off only and not for idling or parking.
Parking in the drop-off loop causes traffic to back up onto English Mountain Road and forces vehicles to maneuver around stopped vehicles, creating a chaotic and dangerous environment for our students that are on or are crossing the driveway loop to the sidewalk. If you wish to walk your child(ren) to the back parking lot door in the morning, please park your vehicle in a designated spot. The safety of our students is our top priority and we need your cooperation to ensure everyone is safe at school.
DROP-OFF and PICK-UP ONCE SCHOOL IS IN SESSION
If you need to walk your student to the main office door after school has started, please enter the driveway with the main school entrance and park in the available spaces outside the cafeteria windows and walk the student to the door. You may also drop off your child(ren) at the office doors, ensuring they go in and we will sign them in.
Please respect the “No Parking in Fire Lane” area in the bus loop at the main entrance in front of the school.
This area is necessary to ensure easy and immediate access for busses and emergency vehicles.
Parking is permitted on the left side of this bus loop between 8:40 am and 2:10 pm when busses are not arriving.
PICK-UP
If you are picking up your child(ren) at regular dismissal time at the end of the day, please enter the driveway behind the school and park in a parking space to wait. You may also stand at the back door for them.
If you are picking up your child(ren) while school is in session, you must call or come to the office to pick up your child(ren). We will sign them out.
Parking is permitted on the left side of this bus loop between 8:40 am and 2:10 pm when busses are not arriving.
AVRCE Bus Driver Discretion
In winter weather, we may announce that schools are open but bus drivers will use discretion on side roads.
This means that road conditions are generally good, but some side roads may be unplowed or slippery, so a bus driver may choose not to travel these roads if the driver thinks it isn't safe to do so. Schools are notified and will attempt to contact families of affected roads.
NOTE: If a bus doesn't travel a road before school, it will not travel that road after school. Please register for the Bus Planner App as you will be sent information regarding a bus change for your child(ren) if a bus is not running on a particular day or if it is late. http://www.avrce.ca/activate-busplanner-account
