Schools Plus Facilitator
What supports do they offer?
SchoolsPlus is an integrated service delivery model for services offered to children, youth and their families. The vision of SchoolsPlus is to serve as a center of service delivery, bringing together professionals, community partners, and other service providers to help children, youth and their families overcome barriers, and navigate services while seeking opportunities for enrichment to help students fulfill their potential. The Schools Plus Facilitator (SPF) is a registered social worker that act as a Navigator, helping students and families through access to timely and appropriate services and the coordination of services for students identified with complex needs.
Support for staff, especially new staff- importance of well being
Whole class support of topics that may include but not limited to:
grief and loss
universal access to SEL/ Well being Curriculum
gaps in service for students to access what is needed for success
Support the work of building positive school culture and relational approach within school and community
Participating in staff development and build support competencies around team building, emotional regulation, managing anxiety for students and staff
Participate in SchoolsPlus Provincial steering Committee
Participate in Regional SP Advisory Committee
Participate in Community Based Tables - to network and maintain or develop partnerships in local community
Support, assist and supervise the tier 1 work of:
Outreach Workers
Child Youth Care Practitioners
Parent Navigator (Where applicable)
Support or facilitate professional development
Working with Teaching Support Team identify students who may need a more focused support on concepts of: anger management, social/emotional regulation, ally ship and friendships, grief and loss.
Work collaboratively with shared roles to promote more focused approach to student Wellbeing as directed by school team
Provide transition support for students who are moving between schools, programs grades and post high school
Help support school teams to Tier 2 Health Services available for students with Mild to Moderate Symptoms
As identified by the teaching support teamwork with students and families needing a more intensive approach through direction and mandate of the DEECD- SP Facilitators will engage in:
