Program Planning Implementation Specialist (PPIS)

What supports do they offer?

The Program Planning Specialist works with school-based and regional staff supporting the implementation of the individualized student programming. They work within an inclusive framework to support the work of school-based program planning teams, classroom teachers, and teachers new to Resource and Learning Centre assignments. Working collaboratively with a team of educational professionals, the Program Planning Specialist will demonstrate a strong commitment to the school improvement process in support of student learning.

  • Working with Teaching Support Teams and through the support of Multi-disciplinary teams identify support for universal practices

  • Co teaching and co planning opportunities

  • ·Helping classroom teachers implement universal recommendations from other specialists

  • Building and finding resources for classroom teachers to support well-being and achievement

  • Support of universal evidence based SEL programing

  • Professional development of Program Planning Process and use of TIENET

  • Working with Teaching Support Team to identify students who may need a more focused support

  • Support the implementation of recommendations from other specialists (ASD, SLP, School Psychologist etc.) of a more focused approach for students

  • Support implementation of routines and structures for identified groups or classrooms

  • Building and finding more focused resources on topics identified by team

  • Support of concepts related to UDL, Project based learning etc.

As identified by the Teaching Support Team or Student Planning Teams, work with students needing a more intensive (often one-on-one) approach to topics that may include:

o Supporting staff who are moving through the program planning process with a student and family

o Support the development and implementation of an Individualized Program Plan and or/ adaptations

o Complete Level B assessments to assist with specific programing

o Completing data tacking of ABC charts for FBAs

o Coaching and supporting EA’s with specific student needs

o Creating individualized work systems for students based on specialists’ recommendations
