Module 1: Technical and Physical Development

GCO 1: Students will demonstrate technical proficiency and fitness levels to an established standard.

1.1 Identify and demonstrate kihon (basic movements)

1.2 Identify and demonstrate kata (choreographed routine)

1.3 Identify and demonstrate kumite (sparring) routines

1.4 Identify and demonstrate falling and take-down techniques

1.5 Determine their own level of physical fitness related to martial arts techniques


Module 2: Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Development

GCO 2: Students will demonstrate self and social awareness through physical training, discipline and reflection.

2.1 Demonstrate traditions of respect to the training hall, instructors and with fellow students using proper terms and body language

2.2 Identify potential conflict situations and explain and apply appropriate physical or non-physical responses.

2.3 Perform techniques before an audience

2.4 Reflect on their training and progress in a variety of ways


Module 3: Art, Culture and History

GCO 3: Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the contributions of art, cultural practices, and history as they pertain to the martial arts.

3.1 Students will define their philosophy as a martial artist using traditional artistic media

3.2 Demonstrate understanding of other styles of martial arts

3.3 Examine and communicate their knowledge of the history of cultural values for an originating country of a martial art.
