Let’s see some @ 12:30 today! :)

Today is a catch up day! There were lots of assignments posted during the last two weeks. If you have missed any, you can work on them today and send them to me. Scroll to previous days this week and see if you have missed anything. Some of you need to practice division and/or fractions. I will be asking you to show me what you know on a Google Meet :)

Writing-If you are all caught up, write me a note and tell me how things are going with anything you would like to share.

Have a super weekend!

Thursday May 27-

Math-Pages 172-173 Questions 1,2,3,4,5,6: Use the Math Book

For each question above, put the smallest fractions first followed by the larger ones. Use what you know about fractions to compare them. For example ⅓ is smaller than 2/4 because we know that 2/4 takes up half of the whole and ⅓ takes up less than half of the whole. Don’t worry about the other parts of the directions! Just put them in order! :)

When comparing 8/9 and ⅔ , we can change the ⅔ to 6/9 by multiplying each number by 3: ⅔ x 3= 6/9. Now we can compare them easily and know 8/9 is bigger!

Here is video on comparing fractions if you need help:

Part 4

What are the pros (Good things) and cons (Bad things) of the Internet in our lives? In other words what are positive and negative things that the Internet has created? Think of things on your own, ask some others in your household or do a web search.

Make a list: Example: Pros: Helps us learn and find information quickly Cons: Increases the amount of time we are sitting and not moving. See if you can write 5 or so for each.

Social Studies- Our next topic for social studies is often most students favorite! We are going to be learning about how people lived from 500 A.D. to 1500 A.D. This period is called the Middle Ages or the Medieval period. To get started, I would like you to watch these two short videos:

When you are outside on a nice warm day

With a cold glass of yellow lemonade.

Slurp, slurp, slurp.

Feeling the warm sun on my back,

Rubbing my hands through the wet green grass,

Listening to the birds singing a distance away.

Quiet...

Now that's PEACE!

My Annoying Sister

I have a little sister.

She bothers me a lot.

When we get in trouble,

She laughs and never gets caught.

When I have friends over,

She bothers him or her.

Thinking she's an emperor.

When I am mad at her,

You can hear me scream for a mile.

But when she is nice to me,

You will see me smile!

1)) Today we will introduce long division. Example 389/7

The method we are going to use is on page 105 in the math text. This is the way I showed a few times in class. We are not going to use any base ten blocks. Ignore those. This method is the same one your parents likely learned so if you have trouble they may also be able to help.

So, here are the steps to learn or review long division:

  1. Look at the method we are going to use on page 105 in the math book. This is the same method I showed you in Google Meet. If you can do this already, then you are all set. If not, you can watch the videos below.

b) Here are 2 YouTube videos of the same thing I recorded. Watch them as many times as you need to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwXgUyZ5O1I

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Vg5bdLxfSs

d) Try these when you are ready! You will need to set them up the same way that the examples are in the videos and we did on the Google Meet. Ask someone for help at home, if and when you need it, if I am not available :).

If you are slow you might only be able to do 5-7 of these, for example.

1)203/5=

2) 509/7=

Writing-Finish your 2 ,"If I Were ..." stories and send them to me.
