April 2024

I missed the March news page, didn't I?  My apologies.  I just created this web space this year and I keep forgetting that I have to update this newsletter page.  I suppose you can always check the calendar linked to this web space or the school's web space for the latest news and events.  Nevertheless, here's what's going on in April.  The 2nd term report cards go out on the 3rd and the Parent/Guardian/Teacher Interviews take place on the 4th.  The format for the interviews will be different this term.  Instead of private sessions, we will be holding "Student-Led Conferences".  These will be held for four families at a time in twenty-minute intervals (you bring your child with you) and your child will show you samples of their work, etc..  I will be in the room as well so if you feel the need, you can grab my attention and we can speak if you have any questions or concerns.

In Language Arts, we have completed our Student Treasure books.  They were sent out in the second last week of March and I don't expect them back until May.  In Literacy, we will be working on persuasive writing and poetry.

In Mathematics, we finished the unit on meters and centimeters.  From there, we will begin the unit on using meters and centimeters to determine perimeter.

Finally, I would like to say that you may begin to hear more and more about the Grade 3 Literacy and Grade 3 Mathematics Provincial Assessments coming up.  They take place in mid/late May. If your child is demonstrating any signs of anxiety/concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Not much else to say as I try to give you weekly updates via email - please stay on the lookout for those.  Also, please visit the school's website often as I maintain that site, too.  You can get a lot of information there:      ove.hrce.ca
