Cancelling/Rescheduling Games
If a team is forced to cancel a scheduled game for any reason:
Start a NEW email thread using the Game # in the subject line.
Contact the coach(es) of the opposing team ASAP. Try not to cancel the day of the game. (36 Hour cancellation fee will apply)
Copy the league coordinator (jhsports@gnspes.ca) so the officials can be notified of the cancellation, otherwise the school will be charged for the officials.
Make arrangements for a makeup game to be played prior to the end of the regular season and at the convenience of the opposing team.
Contact the league coordinator and inform them of the new date so that officials can be booked (jhsports@gnspes.ca)
If schools are closed due to inclement weather, the games will be rescheduled to the next available MAKE UP day in the schedule . League coordinator will rebook officials and the online schedule will be updated to reflect the change.
Note: If you have already scheduled another game on one of the MAKE UP days and that day is needed by a league wide reschedule, you will have to find another day and make the necessary contact with the opposing coach for your individual game.
Some make-up days have been scheduled with exhibition games. Rescheduled league games may take the place of exhibition games. In some cases, exhibition games may not be rescheduled.

Recommendations:
Create clear signage indicating areas where spectators may safely watch games.
Clearly communicate expectations for athlete and spectator behaviour (Some schools have established a student athlete and spectator agreement.)
Have a staff member designated to liaise with spectators and officials in the event of any disruption.
Establish a plan for dealing with conflict (and the potential removal of spectators if necessary).
Winning Team’s Responsibility
Submit results to the coordinator using the score reporting form. Do not email results.
Both teams may submit scores, regardless of outcome. In some cases, there are discrepancies between scores reported on the same game by different teams.
Keep a copy of the score sheet just in case it is needed later. (Take a picture with your cell phone)

The following are excerpts from the SSNS Handbook:
Supervision
Participating Schools are responsible for:
The development of good sportsmanship.
A school shall be responsible before, during and after a contest or meet for the proper conduct of its coaches, athletes, students and other spectators. The responsibility for the conduct of all persons belongs to each individual school involved in a game or meet. This includes the way coaches act and the way players act, but it also involves the way students act and it even involves actions and conduct of “other spectators”, such as adults who attend games. Any responsibility here would imply that necessary precautions are taken (not just by the host school, but also by the visiting school) to guarantee that all who are involved as spectators show proper conduct.
The referee or other game official may warn and, if necessary thereafter, order forfeiture by the offending team or school if the conduct and control of all parties concerned, including spectators, interrupts or adversely affects the normal procedure and progress of a contest.
Controlling the number of spectators in relation to seating capacity and arranging adequate protection and security procedures.
