Dear Parent / Carer,
The Sixth Form continues to work hard to meet the academic needs and develop enrichment opportunities for GNSA students in the community we serve. The half term is almost here and we want to take time to reflect on some of the events which have been so successful for our students and school in recent weeks. In this newsletter and across the MAT you will read of experiences as varied as Physics trips to CERN, EPQ qualifications, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and geography field work studies in South Wales. You will glimpse some of the celebratory events held to 'say goodbye' to Year 13 students, and wish them good luck as their study leave begins.
Our Sixth Form students continue to act as significant role models to younger students in our school and we ask, therefore, for parental support to continue to ensure they meet high standards of attendance, timekeeping, and to show professional attitudes in their dress, behaviour and academic studies. This must remain a top priority for the remainder of the year. Attendance in the Sixth Form has improved markedly over the 2022-23 academic year, but is not yet where we want to be. We believe our parents are as ambitious as we are for student progress, so it is critical that all sixth form students arrive by 07.50am ready to begin learning during tutor time. Students are required to wear smart business dress. T-shirts, hoodies and trainers are not acceptable. We will be taking active steps to address this next half term for the small number of Year 12 students still not meeting these expectations.
