Children in Year 2 started this half term with lots of fun filled learning. In maths, we focused on the values of different numbers and how to add and subtract them using lots of different mathematical resources.

In Literacy, we read a story called ‘I want my hat back’ by Jon Klassen. It’s a book about a friendly bear who lost his favourite hat. Children had many writing opportunities including writing a letter of complaint to the police.

In science, we have been learning about the importance of staying healthy. It’s not just about eating the right food, it’s also about exercise and good personal hygiene! To support our learning, we did an experiment during one of our science lessons to show how easily germs can spread and why it is so important to wash our hands and keep them clean.

In History, we have been learning all about the Bonfire Plot. Children had the opportunity to understand why 5th November is a significant date and debated whether Guy Fawkes was right for plotting against King James.

As you can see, it has been a brilliant start to the new academic year for Year 2! Please spend some time discussing your child’s learning with your child and continue to support them at home with their reading and homework.

We hope you have a lovely half term break.
