Our Local Area
In Year 1, we have a very active curriculum for the children to enjoy. This term our topic in Geography is 'Where do I live?' We have been finding out lots of information about our local area and community.
We took the children on a local area walk so that they could explore what the environment around school looks like and then thought about how to improve our local area.
We looked at the buildings around the school and in our community. For example, SIRAs, GOALS, Garib Nawaj, Wicks and Yeading Library. We also looked at the the different road signs, what they meant and how they keep us safe.
The children had a lovely time and spotted buildings that they had never noticed before.
Dental Nurse Visit
We have been so lucky to have the dental nurse come into school to visit us in Year 1. During her visit the children were given the opportunity to have any of their worries about visiting the dentist answered and any questions addressed. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about dental hygiene and how to keep our teeth clean and healthy too!
