Our community garden originally commenced in 2010 with Hotham Personnel establishing the beginnings in the hope it would provide employment opportunities for some of their clients. The garden was established at the old Railway Bowling Green on Hale Street, Narrogin -the green had been out of use for some time before the idea of using the area and transforming it for further community use.
In 2013 an inaugural committee was formed. Through grants and donations, materials were obtained to establish raised vegetable beds, fruit trees, chicken coop, composting system, reticulation to raised and other garden beds, the purchase of gardening equipment, and a shade shelter along the back fence.
In May 2014 the community garden held our first Narrogin Farmers Market. These help to raise funds for ongoing maintenance and operational costs.
The ongoing efforts of the garden are only made possible by the hardworking, dedicated volunteers who contribute their valuable time, effort and passion.
We are always seeking new members and volunteers, so if you would like to see how you could be involved, send us an email!
