A little bit More About me...

My name is Lauren Misquitta and I am one of the sixth grade ELA teachers at Riverdale Middle School. This will be my seventh year there. I graduated from the University of Tennessee. I have spent half of my time in fifth grade, but I love the middle grades the most! I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Elementary Education as well as a Masters Degree in Teacher Education. I studied in the Urban-Multicultural cohort of the Elementary Education program, specializing in equalizing education for all students.

I have known that I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was eight years old. I wanted to be a teacher at first because I loved my teachers I had in early Elementary School. Once I got to college, I was then motivated because I wanted to push the boundaries of the standards to not only make learning fun, but also accessible to all students. If I can do that in my lifetime, then I will have succeeded at my goal.

One of my favorite mantras is that you are never too old to learn, which is why I love my profession! I will be continuously adapting new technologies, strategies, methods, and lesson plans to better educate my students, but most importantly I will be open to what the children have to teach me as well.
