Re: Application for Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program (TFETP) I am writing this to let you know how sincere I am about pursuing a career in education, specifically as an English language teacher in Taiwan. This opportunity perfectly aligned my passion for teaching and my desire to have a positive influence on students' lives.
My name is Joverlyn H. Gunjuran, 24 years of age. I am a licensed professional teacher from the Philippines. I have three years of experience teaching English. I received my diploma from Occidental Mindoro State College in April 2018. In March 2019, I passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree, the Master of Arts in Education with a Major in Educational Management. I have already finished 36 units of the program. I spent my first year of teaching in a public school here in the Philippines. I am associated with the Department of Education from 2021 until the present. I was hired as our school's English coordinator and homeroom teacher for Grade 5 pupils. I am teaching students in elementary grades English as a second language or ESL.
I have a passion for experiencing new cultures and I believe that education can transform lives, which is why I want to be a teacher in Taiwan. It is Taiwan's strong emphasis on education and friendly students that draws me here. In addition, I am confident that my time spent teaching in Taiwan will give me the chance to advance both my professional development as a teacher and my understanding of global education.
I believe I'm a good fit for the role of English Language Teacher for a number of reasons. First, my experience teaching English to people of different ages and backgrounds gives me a wide range of skills I can use within an ESL class in Taiwan. Second, I'm dedicated to keeping up to date with the most recent teaching methods and techniques so that I can enhance my abilities. And finally, I am a flexible and adaptable person who can adapt to new situations as well as capable of dealing easily with cultural differences. Professional development is crucial for teachers, so I took different courses in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). I also attended various training courses to improve my capabilities and gain more knowledge.
My long-term career goal is to work in the field of English education as an excellent teacher and make a meaningful contribution to the school community and a positive impact on my students’ lives. I believe teaching in Taiwan will be an amazing opportunity for me to learn about the culture through interacting with the people there. I want to work and live in Taiwan for a long time, and it would be great to be granted permanent residency. I've learned that Taiwan offers high-quality health care and a safe environment where the government makes sure that its residents are given priority. Additionally, teachers in this country are highly respected and receive excellent salaries and benefits. It was true that Taiwan deserved to be known as Asia's heart because it brings happiness, security, blessings, wonderful people, and rich cultural diversity. It is indeed the best place to live in the world.
I have various goals I want to accomplish while I’m in Taiwan. First, I would like to help my students develop their ability to read, write, hear and speak the English language. I'm also going to spend as much time in Taiwanese culture as possible and learn a lot about the country's great history and traditions. Lastly, I would like to collaborate with my colleagues in developing innovative teaching methods that adapt to the individual needs of our students. I believe that each student is unique and capable of success. It is my responsibility, as an educator, to make the learning environment conducive to each student. I am also aware of how to use technology to improve learning experience. I've experience of integrating technology into the classroom, like using online assessment platforms and creating interactive lessons.
The opportunity of teaching English in Taiwan is exciting, and I believe that my passion for education, experience as a school teacher, and commitment to students' success are what make me a good fit for the position of English language teacher in your program and can guarantee that, if given a chance, I will give my 100% potential. With that, I want to say a big thank you and have a wonderful day .
