Advanced Science
In order to be prepared for class, each student must bring a pen (black or blue ink) or pencil daily. They also need a binder notebook with pockets and a supply of paper.
This category includes in class assignments, lab reports, and homework. Individual assignments are graded on a 10-point scale. A running list of assignments will be displayed in the classroom and on this website during each unit. All assignments are due by the end of the unit (test day). Late work for any unit will be accepted before the last day of the following unit. At least 2 points will be deducted from the graded score of the late assignment. Papers submitted without a completed name will not be graded and may be resubmitted as a late paper. Assignments must be completed using black or blue ink or a pencil.
Students will be required to maintain a notebook containing class notes, handouts, etc. These will be handed in at the end of each unit for a completion grade. The notebook will be graded on a 100% scale based on percentage of completed materials present. A list of contents will be displayed in the classroom throughout each unit.
Each unit will end with a test. Questions are drawn from assignments, labs and notes.
Students are required to turn in one piece of independent work during each nine week period. Projects may be selected from options listed on my website. All students must participate in the Science Fair to satisfy their independent work grade for the second nine week period.
Students may stop by for consultation on their way to lunch. They will be escorted to lunch after consultation.
Grade reports will be available on Skyward. As all materials must be graded and grades entered on the database, reports are usually available the week after the unit ends.
