This is a survey of the history of the United States from the causes of the Civil War through the 1990’s. The course will also emphasize the following themes:
Diversity
Identity
Culture
Institutions
Citizenship
Social movements
Classwork - Reading, analyzing primary source documents, graphic organizers and questions enhanced by lecture and PowerPoint visuals
Homework - classwork activities, charts, reading and writing assignments, primary sources and review worksheets
Quizzes - Map and president quizzes to give student a sense of geography and chronology
Exams - Multiple choice and short-answer tests using primary sources
