About Mrs. Kavanaugh

Hello There!

Hello Thriving Third Graders! My name is Mrs. Kavanaugh and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year! This is my fifth year teaching 3rd grade at Meadowbrook Elementary School. I previously taught language arts to 5th graders at Oak View Middle School, and before my position at Oak View, I also taught 3rd grade in Putnam County. Needless to say, I LOVE this grade, and I hope you will love 3rd grade too!

I graduated from the University of Florida (Go GATORS!) with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I also earned my specialization in ESOL and am certified in ESE.

I was born overseas, and spent most of my childhood in Southeast Asia since my father worked for the State Department. I have very fond memories of these beautiful and exotic places, and I can’t wait to share stories with you. Like the time I was chased by wild boar! True Story!

When I’m not teaching or planning awesome things for us to do in class at school, I’m spending time with my wonderful family. I am married and have 2 children, Ava and Jack. You’ll hear stories about them too!

My daughter, Ava Grey. She's a 4th grader this year.

My son Jack started Kindergarten this year. Here he is posing with his Kindergarten teacher, Miss Espriella.
