Class Info

Quick Reference

Parent Newsletter and Purple Folders

  • Each Monday you will receive a parent newsletter in your student's purple folder. This letter is to inform you about upcoming events and their dates, class activities, weekly spelling/ vocabulary words, etc. This newsletter is important and you should look for it each Monday! If you do not receive your newsletter, please contact me.
  • Purple folders only go home on Mondays and should be returned on Tuesday.

Homework

  • Homework is assigned on Monday and is not due until that following Friday. Each week students are asked to write three sentences describing how a person with a certain character trait might act. They are also expected to write one sentence correctly using the figurative language phrase of the week.
  • Students should be studying for their spelling/vocab quiz each week.

Reading

  • Students should be reading 20-30 minutes EVERY night. It is good for your child to hear you read as well!

Spelling

  • Students will be given a list of the spelling words each week. They are expected to study them at home. Students may write their words 5x each for a classroom economy bonus! The more they practice writing with correct spelling, the easier it becomes.

Change of Plans

  • If your child is to go home with someone else, ride a different bus, or leave early, please send a note.
  • If you need to make a permanent dismissal change, you will need to fill out a form in the front office.

Absences Due to Illness

  • When your child is absent due to illness, an excuse note must be sent with the student upon returning to school. If a student misses school and does not bring a valid excuse note, he/she will receive a zero for each missed assignment. If you know your child will be absent ahead of time, especially if for several days, please call the office and make arrangements to pick up assignments or make-up work.

Progress Reports

  • Current grade reports will be sent home every three-four weeks so you can stay informed. Please look for these, sign, and return them to school.
