Learning math facts by memorization makes it easier for children to learn complex math tasks. When we don't have to take the time to figure out the computation of a problem, our brains have time to think through the math problem analytically. The best way to improve math fact fluency? Repetition.
Stem Challenges are projects that allow us to explore, design and test concepts in science, technology, engineering, or math. Doing STEM challenges help us become critical thinkers.
Critical thinkers apply, analyze, synthesize, and/or evaluate information and reconstruct based on their observations. It's the process of using focus and self-control to solve problems and set and follow through on goals. We use critical thinking skills every day to help us make good decisions, understand the consequences of our actions, and solve problems.
