Extra Credit
Basically, read or write and receive extra credit! It’s so easy! Extra credit will be accepted at any time during the school year.
Reading
Read a book or news article using trustworthy websites like National Geographic, PBS, CommonLit, or Newsela. Then, show me what you learned. Did the reading come with questions? If so, answer them. If the reading did not come with questions, use the organizers linked below. Or do both!
Use this organizer before and after any research.
Summarize and reflect on your reading using one or more of these organizers or these organizers.
Writing
Turn anything you did in the Reading section into a poem, creative writing, or essay! You get even more credit for the same book or article that way!
Keep a writing journal! Remember to set the timer for 10 minutes and keep your hand moving! Write about anything! (Write a poem, story, thoughts, ideas, etc.)
Google fun story starters and write a descriptive story!
