Frequently Asked Questions
Do students have to wear uniforms at GLOW?
Yes, GLOW is a uniform school. However, we have a lot of different combinations and options for our students to choose from which allows everyone to feel comfortable while learning on campus.
My student has an IEP or 504, does GLOW support students with special learning needs?
Yes! GLOW has an Exceptional Children's Department that is staffed with a school psychologist, 4 full time EC teachers, two EC Teacher Assistants and speech, occupation and physical therapy providers.
How many electives do middle school students get to take?
In 6th and 7th grades students take four electives a year including the required health/PE. In 8th Grade, if appropriate, students begin to have some high school course options in addition to traditional middle school elective course offerings.
Does GLOW have an AIG program?
GLOW has a middle school AIG program for English Language Arts and Math. Additionally, GLOW offers Honors, Advanced Placement and CFCC College Courses at the High School Level.
Does GLOW provide bus transportation?
Yes, GLOW provides bus transportation to students within New Hanover County.
Is there an afterschool program at school?
GLOW partners with our local YMCA to provide FREE afterschool programming to students on GLOW's campus daily from 4pm - 6pm.
What about sports, does GLOW have a sports program?
GLOW has a small sports program that includes a middle school soccer team, a running club that focus on team-building and 5k and 10K races. We are looking to expand our program to a HS cross country team in the future.
